Michelberger Farm
Hosted by Dr. Diego Schmidt
Reading our intro you might wonder, what this all is about.
And originally, to get this idea across, I contemplated to start this page with the story of a client…, a mom and busy manager – post viral – energy flickering…, still functioning…
But my friend and Co-Host, Tom Michelberger, on a sunny Sunday morning at the Farm, convinced me to start with my own story…
Well, where to begin…?
Nearly 30 years ago, I began my medical journey in anesthesiology and emergency care at a university medical center. Disillusioned from the factory-like treatment of patients – as well as staff, I stepped away from clinical medicine and turned toward strategy: leading the European consulting arm of an international health-tech company, focused on restructuring healthcare organizations.
But what was missing? Taking care of my patients.
By fortune, I stumbled upon a white paper, titled “21st Century Medicine: A New Model for Medical Education and Practice” – written by David Scott Jones M.D. & colleagues. It changed my perspective and work as a physician – forever.
I did the training, and out of an insightful journey, co-creating the prototype for an interdisciplinary outpatient clinic, I decided to open my own clinic and focus on what is widely known today as „functional medicine“.
To make the rest of the story short:
Over the years following, I adapted the methodology to create my own 9-step-roadmap-model, which I called “PSOM – Personalized System-Oriented Medicine” or, if you like: „Positive State Of Mind“.
Later out of demand – in the era of COVID-19 – I dedicated my work to kids, adolescents and adults with Long-COVID and it’s extreme manifestation Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome – ME/CFS.
More and more, I’ve come to see how many of us live with subclinical immunosuppression and chronic inflammation — quietly carried, rarely named. A slow erosion of resilience, day by day.
Knowing that deep healing comes from rebalancing all body systems – as well as integrating the mind and spirit – I was searching for a place where true healing can take place. A healing environment.
Fortune smiled on me. I found that environment in The Michelberger Hotel & Farm, and founded my Center for Postinfectious Multi-System-Diseases.
From that insight, the idea emerged: to create a retreat where our experience & spirit could come to life — offering those already on the path a tangible space.
We will have a deep personalized medicine conversation before we start.
We will create your plan, together. Then you arrive – at the Michelberger Farm. A long-weekend journey – 12 people.
You will have space to feel & experience – in your pace. You will have the choice for short medical lectures along the 9-step-roadmap, delicious nourishing food, walks, ice-baths, yoga, personalized IVs, journaling, bodywork – and if you like Qi-Gong & Zen-meditation.
I will be around for 1:1s – if you need – maybe while sitting at the fire-place with you.
The dots connect backwards…
You’re not broken.
But something’s calling.
Something quieter than your busy life — and wiser than your calendar.
You’ve done the reading.
You’ve tried the retreats, the saunas, the podcasts, the protocols.
This is different. It might be for you.
The journey begins before you arrive.
You’ll receive a personal onboarding, guided through our clinical platform:
You’ll arrive with that plan in hand. And once you are here, you will feel what comes next.
This is a 3-day arc. A story, told in rhythm. A journey, together.
Michelberger Farm, Spreewald
Michelberger Farm, BrandenburgWe begin with mitochondria-loving food, hot/cold rhythms, and deep cellular reset.
You’ll hear short, clear talks on inflammation, detox, hormones.
And then you’ll feel it — in your own rhythm.
Massage, acupuncture, IVs. Or silence, walking, herbal wine, a fire.
There’s a soft session for letting go. And space to do just that.
Michelberger Farm, BrandenburgIt’s not a luxury wellness weekend.
It’s not “just relax” with science on the side.
It’s not spiritual bypass or medical theatre.
It’s real work.
Done gently.
In the right place.
